How do I get started?

Before you start to use String, you will first need to ensure that you have full traceability within your business, from Goods In to Goods Out. String is designed to make entire supply chains traceable, by linking together information from each party in the supply chain. It's therefore vital that each business is able to trace their own products through their business from Goods in to Goods Out.

The most important aspect of traceability within your business is to keep accurate records of all your products and processes. There are 3 key aspects to this:

Keep an accurate record of products coming into your business, and physically label each product in your facility, from Goods In to Goods Out with a unique batch or lot number. This lot number can change at various stages throughout production, but there must always be a label showing which lot each product belongs to.

Whenever you take products out of storage and allocate them to a process, keep an accurate record of which products you took.

Keep a record of the products you made from your process, and on the same document show which lots of raw material went into the process to make these processed products.

All you need to use String is a computer and access to the Internet!
